We are happy to spread knowledge about biomaterials, which we are successfully acquiring through experimentation in the laboratory. From 21 to 22 of May 2022 we prepared a workshop about innovative biomaterials for Slovenian and foreign students as part of the Shemakes project at Center Rog in Ljubljana. The workshop’s mentors were Lucrecia Strano from Strano Microfactory and Uroš Novak from the National Institute of Chemistry.
At the workshop, students learned how to make biopolymers with gelatin, agar, sodium alginate, tapioca starch, pine resin and cellulose, and learned how to visually supplement biomaterials by adding textures, colors and other techniques. They were also able to test their manual skills through the production of useful jewellery from biomaterials.
